I mean it took us a long time to do and I think most of the people that I talk to that make records and stuff, there's always stuff that you wish you did better or maybe a little differently. I've never been able to avoid that, even with this. There's things that I wish I had done maybe a little differently. But that also comes with just listening to it and living with it for so long that until it's done you won't really hear things in that way until it's like too late I guess.
But I would say for the most part that I'm really happy with it. Title According to: 'One morning I was having breakfast down the street from the studio where we were recording and my waiter said 'good morning' to me and it's just kinda like the double meaning/spelling kinda registered and I just called everyone and I was like, 'How about Good Mourning with a U?' And everybody liked it equally as much so we used it.' Release Good Mourning was released through on May 12, 2003. The UK version of the album included two bonus tracks: 'Dead End Road' and 'Old School Reasons'. 'We've Had Enough' was released to radio on May 20.

Formed in 1996 with an initial lineup of (guitar, lead vocals), Rob Doran (bass), and (drums).
This lineup released the band's demo tape and the 1997 single ' on Chicago record label, after which Doran left the band and was replaced. The group then signed to and released their debut EP and album in 1998. A second EP, followed in 1999 and resulted in their first music video, for the song 'Goodbye Forever'. In 2000 Asian Man released the band's second album, as well as the compilation album, collecting most of their previously released early material. Porter then left and was replaced.
The band next moved to, releasing in 2001. It was their first album to reach the, reaching #199 on the and #9 amongst independent albums. Its two singles, ' and ', both charted on the. Felumlee then left and became the band's new permanent drummer. A split EP with was released in 2002 through.
The band's fourth album, was released in 2003 on Vagrant, reaching #1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and #20 on the Billboard 200. ' and ' were released as singles from this album, the former becoming the band's first song to chart in the United States. A titled Halloween at the Metro was released later that year as an installment of ' series. In 2004 the band participated in the by releasing a split album with. Alkaline Trio's fifth album, was released in 2005 through Vagrant.
It did not fare as well on the charts as Good Mourning, though its three singles, ', ', and ', became the band's highest-charting singles in the United Kingdom. In 2007 Vagrant released, a compilation album of, compilation and EP tracks, and live material. Alkaline Trio then moved to major label for 2008's, which charted higher on the Billboard charts than any of their previous releases. It also spawned their highest-charting single in ', which reached #14 on. 2010's was released through the band's newly formed label Heart & Skull, in partnership with. It became the highest-charting album of their career, reaching #11 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Rock, Independent, and Alternative Albums charts., followed in 2011, consisting of 'semi-unplugged' versions of songs from their past releases as well as three new tracks.
